Ranjit Barthakur
Co-founder and Chairman

Ranjit heads the overall gms operations, and brings 30 years of successful experience in managing and leading companies in a wide range of industries, including FMCG, telecommunications, tourism, technology, outsourcing and healthcare.

Ranjit is the chief architect of the thought process at GMS of developing the theme of NaturenomicsTM (which relates to capital formation through the creation of ecologically 'compliant' assets in a sustainable manner). With the experience of having successfully run large complex commercial ventures he is well positioned to bring his management and operational expertise to the field of Naturenomics™.

Ranjit, through GMS, has been a co-founder of several initiatives under the Naturenomics™ theme - Balipara Foundation (promoting agricultural based community initiatives), GMODI (promotes organic cultivation among farmers with market linkages), AgriQuest (hub-and-spoke community farming and aggregation with forward market access), FarmQuest (large agricultural land banks for organized cultivation), NatureFirst (focused on restoring the balance between nature and economics through clean environment, carbon management and water management), and River Journeys and Bungalows of India (nature based tourism business).

Ranjit also works closely with the Government of India in his role as a member of the Planning Commission's Steering Committee on Tourism, bringing in his expertise in eco-tourism. In addition, Ranjit is an Economic and Investment Advisor to the Chief Minister of Assam, promoting Naturenomics™ as a way of economic development in the state and region.

Ranjit has also set up other entrepreneurial ventures such as Agilisys (a leading technology solutions provider), Advent Healthcare (a facilitator in the healthcare industry in India), Med-Ind Healthcare (integrated managed healthcare services provider). In addition, Ranjit continues to be an advisor to the Board and management of large groups like Max Healthcare (one of India's largest private healthcare services providers), Anand Group (one of India's largest automobile components groups), and Airtel (India's largest mobile telecom service providers) in the North East.

In the social sector, Ranjit is keenly involved as Chairman of Operational Smile in India (voluntary organization doing exemplary work to correct cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities in children around the world), and is on the Board of Sanctuary Asia (India's leading wildlife, conservation and environment magazine and thought leader). Ranjit has also been closely involved with the World Wildlife Fund in the past, and continues to be their advisor in India.

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Ranjit was CEO of Orange in India, Chairman of Marconi in the Indian Sub-continent, and held senior positions in sales and marketing at ITC, one of India's leading FMCG companies. Ranjit has extensive hands-on experience in diverse geographic markets like India, South East Asia, Japan, Russia, Middle East, UK, Europe and USA.

 
   

Dalip Pande
Public Affairs Director

Dalip leads the Public Affairs portfolio and front faces client interactions - being responsible for nurturing key stakeholder relationships across projects.

Dalip has also worked on execution support and formulation of marketing/strategic plans for India-entry strategies, for several multinational clients.

A career marketing professional, Dalip spent over 21 years across sales & marketing functions with VST Industries - an associate company of British American Tobacco and was responsible for building the brands and the back-end sales & distribution network. Bitten by the technology bug, Dalip moved to netdecisions, where he, among others, front faces client interactions and is responsible for the development and management of client relationships - across a wide spectrum of verticals. He is currently part of the Team launching 'Cricket Star' - the first reality cricket show in the world.

 
   

Bakul Hazarika

Bakul Hazarika is located in gms Guwahati office from where he manages gms projects in the East and North East region of India.

Bakul Hazarika brings with him 32 years of experience in sales and marketing in FMCG and hospitality industries. Bakul has facilitated extensive field work and survey in health care, agriculture and fishery industries. Bakul is a no-nonsense person and ensures that things happen during operations and timelines are met.

His fluency with the dynamics of the public system is indeed useful for the critical area of People, Planet and Profit (3P’s) executions.

 
   

Prabir Banerjea
Advisory Board
North East


Prabir is located in gms Guwahati office from where he manages gms' projects in the East and North East region of India.

Prabir brings with himself 26 years of experience in sales and marketing having worked in Reckitt & Colman and VST Industries, with specific experience in the categories of FMCG, pharma and tobacco products. Mr. Banerjea joins from VST Industries, where he was head of Sales and Marketing reporting to the Managing Director, and where his primary responsibilities were distribution, logistics, improving brand health measures, development of new brand mix elements, geographical expansion, and building an effective sales team. He has sound knowledge of packaging and consumer research, and has worked extensively with design agencies in India and abroad. His additional responsibilities at VST includes being the Chairman of the Product Development Committee, and the Chairman of the People Development Team - a cross functional team for building managerial competencies in the organization.

 
   

S.K. Dutta
Advisory Board

Mr. Dutta is a key member of gms advisory board, and has extensive experience in doing business in the East and North East of India.

Mr. Dutta brings with him nearly four decades of experience in the corporate world. He retired as the Deputy Chairman & Managing Director or Carritt Moran, the second largest tea broking firm in India. S K Dutta is a Honours graduate from St.Stephen's College. He hails from Dibrugarh, Assam and his family has been closely associated with the tea industry and public life of Assam for generations.
